In a surprising turn of events,Remedyhas announced lowering the minimum system requirements forAlan Wake 2on PC, starting with version1.0.16.1.
In apost onX(formerly Twitter), the team shared the new system requirements.
We’ve been optimizing the PC version of Alan Wake 2, and as a result the minimum PC system requirements have been lowered. Please check the updated image! These changes take effect with update 1.0.16.1, out on PC now.Alan Wake 2 on the Epic Games Store:https://t.co/EorFz62yrppic.twitter.com/xswqfT7U4Z
The difference, as clearly visible in the post, is with respect to the GPU(Graphics Processing Unit). While the minimum GPU requirements previously wereGeForce RTX 2060andRadeon RX 6600, it’s now lowered toGeForce GTX 1070andRadeon RX 5600 XT.
Also, those on the GTX 10xx series should get a decent performance after the rollout of the latest version,1.0.16.1. This isn’t just a performance-based update but will also let millions runAlan Wake 2on PCs that were previously unsupported.
However, there are still concerns about the16 GBRAM requirement, anIntel i5-7600KorAMDequivalent CPU, and90 GBfree SSD storage.
While it’s understandable, given the experience (graphics and rendering) developers intend to deliver, slightly cutting back on these will allow millions more to play the action-packed horror game!
On supported PCs, you can download theAlan Wake 2from theEpic Gamesstore.
