Recently, Microsoft decided todeprecate the Windows Subsystemfor Android. However, Amazon took a step further and removed the App Store. However, if you already have the Amazon Appstore installed, you can use it for now.

Why is Amazon Appstore leaving Windows 11?

Why is Amazon Appstore leaving Windows 11?

Amazon Appstore is leaving Windows 11 because Microsoft will end the Windows Subsystem for Android. Thus, Windows devices will no longer support the application. Furthermore, Amazon is trying to prevent new users from using the app. On top of that, according to Amazon, developers will no longer be able to submit new apps for the Amazon Appstore. Yet, they can continue delivering updates for the existing apps.

Amazon Appstore on Windows 11 is still ongoing. If you want to try the app or to reinstall it, you can use a third party application. Some apps might work better with emulators, but you can try them. Also, you can continue using the apps on your Android devices if you like.

In a way, the downfall of the Windows Subsystem was already on its way. After all, it lacked official Google Play store Support. Furthermore, the Amazon Appstore lacked a lot of applications. So, compared to the third-party apps, there wasn’t a significant need for the Windows Subsystem. On top of that, Microsoft invested little to make the Windows Subsystem a critical feature. Overall, the tool felt more like a plugin.

All things considered, we were not expecting Amazon to remove the Appstore so fast, especially since the service will end next year. However, at least they are allowing developers to continue updating their apps for Windows 11. So, will there be incoming updates? After all, developers could follow Amazon’s decision and stop updating their apps.

What do you think? Are you going to install a third-party Android emulator likeBlueStacksto continue using the Amazon Appstore? Let us know in the comments.
