It’s well known that Windows 11’s File Explorer does not always run at a preferable speed, and sometimes it can be quite slow, depending on the device. While there aremany ways to make it faster, not every Windows user knows their way around registries or Task Manager.

If you’re willing to give our solutions a try, then you are welcome. However, there is another solution, which virtually any Windows 11 user can try, and it only requires 5 seconds of your time. We’re not exaggerating, we tried it and it literally took us 5 seconds to make File Explorer on Windows 11 faster.

The solution requires you to get File Explorer in Fullscreen Mode, and then get it out of the Fullscreen Mode. In seconds, you will notice a massive improvement in the File Explorer’s speed.

To do so, you’ll need to:

It is as simple as that. Whenever you notice the File Explorer running slow, you can try this method, and it should make it faster, these steps can be repeated every time it happens.

Preferably, you’ll have to look into your system, as well, and make sure it has the requirements to run Windows 11 on recommended settings. Also update your Windows 11 to the latest version, to make sure you have all the necessary features: sometimes some of them can naturally make File Explorer faster.

And when in doubt, try this solution. Nobody knows why it happens, but it does. Some folks on Redditsay that it’s a bug, and enabling/disabling Fullscreen Mode enables the bug, as well.

By some bug Microsoft already has a faster version of Explorer built in, but you have to do the maximize thing every time you launch explorer to go into this bugged fast state.

Bugs making File Explorer faster? We’re in.
