Apparently, many reported seeing Bing’s Deep Search feature in Edge, but not everyone can find it. AnX postfrom Berry Schwartz asspotted by MSPUblew the whistle on the rebirth of this feature which was initially introduced late last year.

Microsoft initially abandoned testing the feature and that’s why its return comes as a surprise.

The company is testing it now with plans of introducing Deep Searcheverywhere, according toMicrosoft’s Mikhail Parakhin.

We are testing it everywhere, the plan is to release everywhere, too.

What is Deep Search and what does it do?

If nothing has changed, Deep Search is a tool that uses Bing’s web index and GPT-4 to expand the search query with a more accurate description and search results.

For example, let’s say I’m researching loyalty programs in different countries and search for “how do points systems work in Japan”. Deep Search might generate a more comprehensive description like this:

Provide an explanation of how various loyalty card programs work in Japan, including the benefits, requirements, and limitations of each. Include examples of popular loyalty cards from different categories, such as convenience stores, supermarkets, and restaurants. Show a comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of using loyalty cards versus other payment methods in Japan, including current rewards and benefits. Highlight the most popular services and participating merchants.

Parakhin also mentioned on X that Deep Search had more hype than anticipated and meanwhile, the Microsoft team has worked onfixing the caching and making it more robust.
