Microsoft has decided to extend to availability of Classic Teams by 3 more months. After initially warning Teams users that the classic version of the popular work-oriented platform would be deprecated by April 1, 2024, Microsoft has delayed to deprecation to July 1, 2024,stating:
We’re aware of the concerns around our timeline. Classic Teams users who have encountered issues moving to new Teams or who don’t meet the prerequisites to upgrade will still have access to the classic Teams client until July 01 2024 at the earliest. This will give admins more time to address any issues encountered during this process.
The Redmond-based tech giant has taken into consideration users’ feedback and will allow them 3 more months to transition to the new version. Organizations that still use the classic Teams now have time to complete the transition to the new version, which became the new default client for the platform, later last year.
While many users are still on the classic Teams, the new Teams has a plethora of new features and capabilities, includingCopilot. Microsoft has also startedto integratethe platform with its other Microsoft 365 apps, making it easier for users to use them in unison.
Teams is one of the most popular work-oriented platforms around, and withover 300 million users, millions are still using the classic version of it.
However, in the last 6 months, Microsoft enhanced and improved the platform with many features aimed at streaming workflows and overall providing a seamless experience.
The Redmond-based tech giant is constantly improving and releasing new features to the platform: just recently, for instance, the company announced that it will make it possible for usersto engage in multitasking activitieswhile attending Teams meetings, something that classic users wouldn’t be able to do.
