We previously reported thatWindows 12 could be released in June 2024, and the recent comments by Qualcomm’s CEO, Cristiano Amon, certainly hint that Microsoft is all set to release the new OS.
Speaking about Qualcomm’s latest offering,Snapdragon X Elite, Cristiano Amon said that it will be introduced in mid-2024, around the same time as thenext version of Windows.
While he hasn’t clearly mentioned Windows 12, this aligns with what industry leaders have been saying in the past few months.
In an interview, Intel’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Dave Zinsner, when asked about the company’s projections, talked of Windows refresh, a term previously used to describe Windows 11 before it was announced.
Will there be a Windows 12?
If Microsoft adopts the earlier three-year upgrade cycle, Windows 12 should be right around the corner. Previously, Microsoft released a new iteration every three years, starting from Windows Vista and continuing till Windows 10. Then came the long six-year wait for Windows 11.
But going by the three-year upgrade cycle, Windows 12 should be released in 2024, given that Windows 11 came in 2021.
If there’s going to be a Windows 12 in the near future, you can expect Microsoft to share an official release soon. For Windows 11 and Windows 10, we had an announcement 5 months and 1 year in advance, respectively.
Many in the industry believe that Amon just dropped a major hint about the release of Windows 12, but a few remain skeptical. There are several other theories doing the rounds.
A few believe that the announcement by Amon has more to do with a newer version of Windows 11, i.e., 24H2. Some are even talking of amore Arm-friendly Windows updatesince the present versions don’t offer the best support.
Whatever the case, Microsoft should soon issue an official release, and the entire discussion can be put to rest, at least for the time being.
We have previously discussedWindows 12, its release date, and all related aspectsfor our readers.
