Microsoft releasing the Windows 11Insider Preview Build 26052got us excited because it was a confirmation thatWindows 11 24H2 will be available later this year. But the insider build seems to have more issues than any of us expected!
Earlier, we reported how some of you facedinstallation challenges with Build 26052, coupled withGreen Screen of Death(BSOD equivalent on Insider Build)and Sysprep failures.
Now, it appears that you will have to back up any Dev Drives if rolling back on Build 26052. In apost onX(formerly Twitter), theWindows Insider Program’shandle confirmed that rolling back may break the Dev Drive and lead to data loss.
We added a very important known issue for Dev Drive users on Build 26052: Insiders who have Dev Drives and might need to rollback will need to back up their Dev Drives BEFORE rolling back as rolling back will cause Dev Drives to break and data on them to be lost. ^BLBhttps://t.co/IZTK8PmspG
The information was also added to theofficial blog postunderKnown Issues, and a fix for it is yet to be released. So, if you are on Windows 11Insider Preview Build 26052, do not perform a rollback ifusing a Dev Driveor get aneffective backup solutionto keep the data safe.
While it’s expected that Windows Insider Builds will have some problems, such glaring issues can affect your productivity and the system’s stability.
Be it video streaming issues in Microsoft Store apps or a black screen when waking the PC from sleep. Though for the latter, resetting the graphics card using theCtrl+Shift+Bshortcut works.
