Following the announcement of the Shadow of the Erdtree FLC, Elden Ring has become one of the most popular games on Xbox, with a spike of over 78% in Xbox players,according to the TrueAchievements website. The game also made it into the Top 20.

The Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, which is slated to release this summer, on June 21, is an expansion of sorts to the insanely popular Elden Ring video game, one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed in recent history.

As in line with Elden Rings, and the other Dark Souls games, Shadow of the Erdtree will be available on Xbox consoles: Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and X. And Elden Rings is seen as one of the best open-world RPGs to play on Xbox, so Shadow of the Erdtree will make no exception.

And, as in line with these games, there is not much to say about the new expansion: there will be an entirely new zone to explore, a plethora of new enemies and bosses to fight, new armor, new weapons, and, of course, a new story. However, players will have to pay attention to in-game items, places, and weapons to learn about the lore.

The video trailer does include a sort of description, which reads:

The Land of Shadow.A place obscured by the Erdtree.Where the goddess Marika first set foot.A land purged in an unsung battle. Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame.It was to this land that Miquella departed.Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage.Of all things Golden.

So, it’s all up to your interpretation. However, there will be no doubt a frenzy about the new expansion, and rightfully so. The original Elden Ring is hailed as one of the best examples of dark fantasy RPGs ever released, and it has become widely known for its difficulty.

Shadow of the Erdtree will feature similar bosses, and players will have to die tens or hundreds of times before defeating them. But it’s all part of the charm.
