Update–we have another exclusive, it seems at the same Summit Qualcom will release a new AI super-charged platform called the Snapdragon X Elite that aims to revolutionize the PC landscape with faster CPU performance.—Qualcomm will introduce Snapdragon Seamless, a set of features that will enable cross-platform device experiences, at the upcoming Snapdragon Summit, which will take place on Oct. 24-26 in Maui. The tech giant calls the new Snapdragon Seamlessthe bridge that enables differentiated cross-platform Multi-Device Experiences.
According to the document shared with us by our source, Snapdragon Seamless will allow easy integration and interaction between Qualcomm-hardware-based OEM (original equipment manufacturer) devices and OS partners across platforms, such as Android and Windows.
The multi-device experiences will include platforms such as smartphones, laptops, VR/AR headsets (including the new Meta Quest 3, which is a Qualcomm-hardware-based device), headphones, smartwatches, smart glasses, and even cars.
But what does all this mean in real-world scenarios? If you own multiple Snapdragon-powered devices, you can pair them faster, sync notifications between them, and switch media streaming without thinking about it. Camera continuity is an interesting one, as you can use your camera (and maybe the media library) across multiple devices.
This will be possible through the Snapdragon-enhanced services (Sensor processing, Imaging, AI, Power management, CPU, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth, GPU, Language processing, and Video processing), which will create cross-platform multi-device experiences that will focus on:
Is Snapdragon Seamless similar to Galaxy Connected Experience?
Well, yes and no. First of all, in many ways, and for good reasons, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Seamless shares multiple similarities with Samsung’s Galaxy Connected Experience, a set of features that enables multi-device experiences, released by the tech giant earlier this year.
Samsung continuously develops and improves multi-device experiences, especially between the company’s devices (smartphones, laptops, smartwatches, tablets). For example, earlier this year, Quick Share, a beloved Samsung feature, was finallyreleased to all non-Samsung Windows 11 laptops, allowing for greater integration into the Galaxy Connected Experience of non-Samsung devices.
While Samsung’s technology has been integrated with Windows 11, Qualcomm seems to be making even more significant steps, bringing together many more devices from different manufacturers. The great news? All Qualcomm-based OEM devices are automatically enlisted in the Snapdragon Seamless experience.
This dramatically impacts creative professionals and enterprises by allowing for better integration, synced workflows, and easier deployment. Through cross-platform MDE, companies can leverage Seamless features across their entire business, making it (maybe) a determining factor for hardware acquisitions.
