Yesterday, as spotted byKotaku, GameStop posted a tweet highlighting the Xbox Demo Day event and mentioningMicrosoft Game Passinstead of Xbox Game Pass.

Later on, they deleted the tweet, furthermore, fueling the speculations that Microsoft will soon kill the Xbox brand. It was clearly a mistake from their part.

However, by then, the post wasretweeted by Wario64and the hell broke loose with hundreds of comments about Microsoft’s alleged move.

“Microsoft Game Pass"https://t.co/ntKyEgUsF1

The same Twitter user brought up an EA announcement where they used Microsoft Game Pass on March 1st 2023.

Other commenters suggested that Microsoft will only rebrand the Game Pass service, and it has nothing to do with a whole Xbox brand removal.

Now, in a recent XNC podcast, the Xbox insider, MAGG, talks about a new Xbox console. If you are watching the clip above at 1:31:00, he describes something about a dockable new console from Microsoft as a new Xbox console.

Here, we have a speculation that we haven’t seen before. What if the new console will not be branded as an Xbox but as a Surface device? Then, it’s only logical that the Game Pass service will stop being branded as Xbox, because it will also address the new console, right?

Anyway, right now, we don’t have solid proof that Microsoft is going to kill the Xbox brand. However, there are strong reasons to believe that Game Pass will not be branded under Xbox.
