Microsoft Teams, one of themost popular video conferencing software, has a major drawback: the need to get a separate version for each account type, be itWork,School, orPersonal. It seems like Microsoft has finally heard us!
OnFebruary 15, 2024, Microsoft, in theMicrosoft 365 Roadmap, announced that startingApril’24, the Teams desktop app will support every account type. This applies to both Windows and Mac.
It is a worldwide rollout with general availability, meaning everyone will benefit from the change.
There’s no clarity as to what led to this decision, how it will be implemented, or the other changes we can expect. All we know for now is that you will no longer have to navigate between different Microsoft Teams for individual accounts.
But we kind of saw it coming when Microsoft allowedjoining work or school Teams meetings with your personal account.
In the recent past, Microsoft has made a lot of enhancements to Teams. First,co-organizers got a separate chat in Town Hall. Then, it madejoining meetings easier in Teams, amongst a series of other upgrades.
If you are a regular Teams user, the future does look promising!
