Key notes
Slack andTwitterare two programs and services that can work wonders, especially in work environments.
Slack is a great instant messaging app that allowscommunities, groups, or teams to join a workspace and stay in touch with each other.
Twitter is a social media platform where everyone can share messages via Tweets.
Given how similar and functional these two services are, it was only a matter of time before someone thought integrating them was a good idea. Read on to find out how to do this.
How can I integrate my Twitter and Slack accounts?
1. Use the Twitter app for Slack
1.Go to theTwitter app pagein Slack’s App Directory.
-
SelectAdd to Slack.
-
Press onAdd Twitter Integration.
-
ClickonAuthorize app to authenticate with Twitter.
-
Enter theTwitter @usernameyou’d like to track in Slack.
-
Select what and whose tweets you want to see.
7.Decide where you’d like the tweets to appear. You can select anexisting channelorcreate a new onejust for this.
- When you are finished, click onSave Settings.
In order to integrate the two apps, you must first add the Twitter app to Slack, and then connect them and tweak all the settings to your liking.
The main idea of integrating Slack with Twitter is via the use of add-ins. TheTwitterapp brings tweets toSlack, and you can automatically update a channel when tweets are sent from your companyTwitteraccount.
You can also easily track every mention of yourTwitter@username, and the best part is that your tweets and mentions are easily searchable inSlack.
2. Online services that connect Slack to Twitter
Of course, plenty of other apps allow the integration of Twitter into Slack, or vice versa. However, most of these work with the browser version of these services and are usually not free either.
A few notable services that let you link yourTwittertoSlackare the following:
By using theappor the above-mentioned online services, you should be able to use all of the features Twitter offers within the Slack interface.
This allows for better communication within the workplace, and it can be a lot of fun, too. However, if you’re more reserved and enjoy your privacy, consider making your X account private.
