Windows 11 brought some interesting features with its release, one of them being the Auto HDR feature.

It seems that this feature is quite popular with the gaming community, and it’s one of the features that made many users switch to Windows 11.

Auto HDR is the reason for switching to Windows 11, according to many gamers

Auto HDR feature allows you to experience improved color range and brightness when gaming thus giving you a more immersive experience.

This is especially important when playing older games that don’t have native HDR support. In case you haven’t tried it yet, we have a great guide on how toenable Windows 11 Auto HDR, so don’t hesitate to give it a go.

Don’t take our word for it, here’s whatgamers had to say on Reddit regarding Windows 11 Auto HDR:

I literally just switched back to Windows 11 the other dayjustfor Auto HDR. I had tried to switch last summer but I thought that Windows 11 was making my games crash. Turns out it was a driver issue that I just solved a few weeks ago. That makes Final Fantasy XIV & Persona 5 (Royal) look amazing.

But what about newer games? This feature isn’t made just for older games, it can enhance newer titles as well:

I use Auto HDR on Warhammer 40k: Darktide. I’ve found it works very well on my LG C2.

Sea of Stars with auto-HDR blew my mind, other than that I didn’t tried it much

It’s also worth mentioning that AutoHDR works great and is bug-free, and many gamers agree with that:

Yes, I switched to 11 for this reason and it has worked flawlessly.

Many are encouraging others to switch to Windows 11 for this and other features:

Abandon w10, not just for auto-hdr, which works great btw

Another feature that makes users upgrade to Windows 11 is the ability to quickly toggle HDR on and off with a keyboard shortcut:

never mind auto HDR, Win + Alt + B is worth the upgrade alone if you’re into HDR gaming 🙂

And for some games, it seems that Auto HDR works better than the native HDR support:

Auto HDR literally works better than the native HDR in a lot of games. Several games I’ve been unable to stop the native HDR implementation from washing out highlights or any scene with direct sunlight but forcing auto HDR fixed the issue.

Compared to the HDR support on the previous version, Windows 11 Auto HDR is miles ahead according to some:

I just upgraded today. Windows 10 HDR is literallytrash

Speaking of which, we have a great guide that comparesWindows 11 HDR and Windows 10 HDR, so you might want to check it out for additional research.
