The Italians stunned the rugby world by claiming their first ever victory over Australia with a 28-27 win amid a thrilling finale in Florence, last Saturday. Italy have made just two changes to that starting XV that stunned the Wallabies, with prop Pietro Ceccarelli and hooker Giacomo Nicotera both drafted in to the starting line up.

The Springboks will meanwhile be in no mood for another upset in a match that has taken on greater significance for Jacques Nienaber’s side following their back-to-back Autumn Nations series defeats to Ireland and France.

The world champions have been off the pace for most of this tournament, but may find it hard to build confidence against a Gil Azzurri that now appears to be far from the walkover many would have predicted at the start of the series. Harlequins Centre Andre Esterhuizen is set to start for the visitors while Leicester Tiger’s star Jasper Wiese returns in a tweaked Springboks line-up.
