Google has finally pushed a much-needed app update to its popular cloud storage solution. The latest Google Drive app update aims to improve the video playback time and the search experience by adding three new filters.
This Google Drive app update will improve video playback time and enhance search experience
In a recentWorkspace blog, Google mentions adding Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP, aka DASH. The new feature enables adaptive bitrate playback that allows automatic change in video quality based on the network quality.
The company indicates that after installing the latest Google Drive app update, you will notice improvements in the time to start the playback after clicking play. The update also aims at reducing re-buffering during normal or highspeed playback. It is worth noting that DASH transcodes will automatically be implemented for all new videos uploaded toGoogle Drive. However, all existing videos will be updated by the end of this year.
Apart from the playback time improvement, the tech giant is improving the in-app search experience on iOS with the latest Google Drive update. That said, the Android app is likely to receive support later down the line. The update includes three new filters for File Type, Owners, and Last modified, and are accessible below the search bar.
For those unaware, the new features were first spotted and reported byTheSpAndroidback in October last year. Moreover, Google says these filters are widely available for Google Workspace customers and iOS users with personal Google accounts.
