Lenovo’s Ctrl/Fn keys are finally in the proper position, thanks to Copilot

The new ThinkPad X1 Carbon and some other ThinkPad laptops don’t have the annoying key arrangement.

Microsoft unveiled theCopilot keya while ago, with the Redmond-based tech giant saying that it will usher in a new era of AI PCs. Manufacturers everywhere said they would release devices with the newCopilot keystarting in March-April, and the key will help Windows users access Copilot with a single click.

While Lenovo has yet to add the new Copilot key to its devices, the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon (Gen 12) Windows laptops finally fix an old frustrating arrangement of the Ctrl/Fn keys, and we believe it might be due to integration of the Copilot key in future Lenovo laptops.

The arrangement was quite frustrating for a lot of Lenovo lovers out there, and they were complaining everywhere about it:on Reddit, or theofficial website.

My brand new laptop from the IT department has this and I’ve been cursing it all week! And then I just found out they gave me the wrong one and I get a new one tomorrow!

Some even went as far as asking others how to swap the keys.

You can change the Fn key to function as the ctrl key and vice versa in the BIOS settings.

The Fn key, which stands for function, usually stands on the right side of the left-right arrangement on Windows devices, and it can be activated inWindows 11to use for accessing special commands.

However, the Lenovo ThinkPad went the other way around: the Fn key was found on the left side, and for users who are used to this key being on the right side, it turned out to be frustrating.

But ThinkPad enthusiasts will love the new device from the Lenovo series: the new ThinkPad X1 Carbon has apparently fixed this problem. The tech giant fixed the arrangement, and the Ctrl/Fn keys are now positioned correctly.

While X1 Carbon doesn’t have the Copilot key yet, future devices might probably sport the new key, and with it, there is a huge chance the Fn/Ctrl arrangement will go on this way, from now on.

But we’ll have to wait and see: whilethe new transparent laptopLenovo is working on (which we exclusively reported about) has a fixed Ctrl/Fn arrangement, some of the laptops from the ThinkPad series don’t have it.

So, only time will tell if Lenovo decides to entirely fix the frustrating arrangement. Until then, those who are in love with the Lenovo laptops can choose to purchase the ones that have the correct, and standard Ctrl/Fn key arrangement.
