As you probably know, Microsoft is keen on retiring the Mail & Calendar app on Windows, after the introduction of the free Outlook app.
In the beginning, Microsoft was subtle about suggesting the Outlook app, promising a better email experience, but recently, the company decided to be a lot forward with prompting the users to make the switch.
Mail & Calendar has a new prompt on startup that promotes Outlook
As you probably know, Microsoft is retiring the Mail & Calendar app, and all new versions of Windows will come with Outlook preinstalled. According toMicrosoft’s support page, support for Mail & Calendar will last until December 31, 2024.
This wouldn’t be a big problem, but many are unhappy withhidden ads in Outlookthat Microsoft is pushing to its users.
If you thought that intrusive ads were a problem, we got some bad news for you. The Mail & Calendar app will now show you a window asking you to switch to Outlook whenever you start the application.
This means you’ll need to manually close the prompt or cave in and switch to Outlook. This can become rather tedious after a while, so users will eventually have to make the switch just not to deal with pesky prompts.
Many don’t want to switch to Outlook because of the ads, but there’s also a problem of missing features.
Luckily, Microsoft has started to address those andOutlook is finally getting newsletter supportas well asdrag-and-drop support for attachments.
What are your thoughts on Outlook, will you switch or are you on team Mail & Calendar? Let us know in the comments!
