Microsoft is going to change the date for the optional Windows 22H2 updates. This decision comes as a response to the feedback from the community. In addition, by delaying the update, Microsoft wants to allow us to take advantage of thecontinuous innovationssystem. So, with this method, we will accommodate faster with the upcoming features. After all, we won’t encounter all of the updates at once.
How long will Windows 11 22H2 be supported?
Windows 11 22H2 will receive support until June 24, 2024, for Enterprise, Education, IoT Enterprise, and Enterprise multi-session editions. However, if you are using Home, Pro, Pro Education, or Pro for Workstations, you will get updates until June 26, 2024.
As you can see, there isn’t a significant delay between versions. However, previously, the optional Windows 22h2 updates were going to happen on February 27, and there wasn’t enough time to get used to them. Fortunately, there is enough time until June to get comfortable with the optional features and modifications.
To get more optional Windows updates, such as features and functionalities, you will have toupgrade from 22H2 to 23H2. Also, the process is simple. After all, you need to make sure that your device is eligible for the upgrade. Then, you have to go through a few steps to upgrade your Windows version.
By the way, you should know that there is a difference between 22H2 and 22H3. After all, they both have their quirks. For example, 23H2 is better for AI tasks, while 22H2 is better for photo editing. Yet, overall, 22H3 is slightly more performant than 22H2 in other aspects.
Ultimately, you could upgrade your Windows 22H2 to 23H2 to continue getting optional updates after June. Yet, there’s no rush, and you can enjoy the continuous innovations system until then. However, if you are a bit reluctant about upgrading from 22H2 to 23H2, know that you have until October 14, 2025, to decide. From there onwards, Windows 11 22H2 will no longer get optional or security updates.
What are your thoughts? Are you going to keep Windows 11 22H2 until it will be no longer supported? Let us know in the comments.
