The Windows Metadata server connection issues are still bothering us even after recent Windows 10 and 11 updates. After all, the latest updates that should fix the problems didn’t work. However, there isn’t an official fix available. Moreover, you might experience various delays and problems.

What is Windows metadata?

Metadatais information about a device, such as descriptions, model names, and properties. Furthermore, the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) downloads and tweaks it to enable various features of the system, such as drivers, updates, and device configuration settings.

However, when the metadata doesn’t function properly, you will experience errors. Some of the most common ones are related to external devices.

Unfortunately, the Windows Metadata server connection problems aren’t new. After all, they date back to 2023. Furthermore, you might encounter it while trying to use an external device. In addition, you might run into these issues on Windows 10 and 11.

Microsoft tried to secure the WMIS downloads with HTTPS, and according to BleepingComputer, they did that. However, they did not manage to fix the Windows Metadata connection error. In addition, the Metadata servers are now closed, and we don’t know when they will come back online.

Ultimately, the only thing we can do to fix the Windows Metadata server connection issues is to wait for Microsoft to come up with a solution. Until then, we could disable the Device Installation Settings. Unfortunately, we know how stressful the situation is, especially since it creates delays.
