A market research company, ETR’s report,Microsoft Teams, is the most used chat app in the Workspace, compared to Slack and other business text chat apps.
The report showcases that Microsoft Teams has surpassedSlackregarding daily use, adoption rate, and market share among organizations.
Microsoft Teams was launched in 2016, and while Slack popularized the concept of using chat over email, it looks like Microsoft Teams has become a popular choice.
The reasons could range from Teams being included in the Microsoft 365 bundle without extra cost to constantly adding impressive features to keep users hooked.
Office 365 is available in 53 languages and is used by renowned companies around the world. Microsoft Teams, the team collaboration application, is simple to use and has an intuitive interface.
Well, Teams has not only subsided Slack but also impactedZoomand other collaborative tools businesses. But somehow, Slack and Microsoft Teams have always been neck to neck.
As Teams is available as a free add-on,Slack filed an EU antitrust complaint. The company justified the claim by saying the Redmond tech giant misuses platform power and urged the regulator to force Microsoft to remove it from the Office 365 bundle and offer it as a single service at competitive commercial prices.
All the video collaboration tools experienced a boost in usage and popularity. Still, Microsoft Teams’ growth was rapid, from 20 million users in November 2019 to 44 million in March 2020, then 75 million by April.
The software kept users with the platform even after the pandemic. As of 2023, Microsoft Teams has 300 million users, superseding Slack’s 18 million active users (as mentioned in the last report).
Microsoft Teams usage has exploded from 2 million users in 2017 to 300 million in 2022. Which platform do you prefer to chat with your co-workers, and why? Share your thoughts with our readers in the comments section below.
