Nintendo DS and 3DS were a huge hit back in the day, and tech-savvy fans have found a way to revive it, in a way.
A few modders have managed to convert a Steam Deck into a Nintendo 3DS, and the results are impressive.
Modders have converted a Steam Deck into a working Nintendo 3DS
As reported byRetro Dodo, it seems that Reddit user TyePower managed to convert his Steam Deck into a 3DS.
This was achieved by adding a 7-inch battery-powered monitor to the Steam Deck and securing it with Clamshell detachable mounts. While the device might look a bit rough, it works pretty well.
It’s powered by a discontinued Citra emulator and it uses 1080p resolution. This isn’t the only model, Andrew from RetroHandhelds.gg also created his own 3DS.
While Andrew’s device doesn’t look too flattering, especially because it has a battery attached to the second screen, it can emulate the games perfectly.
If you don’t plan to convert your Steam Deck into 3DS, you’ll be pleased to hear thatSteam Deck is great for music production.
As for Nintendo, we’re all waiting for its new handheld, but theXbox Series S could easily outperform Switch 2, according to leaks, so don’t expect any high-end gaming on it.
