After years of being a vital part of Windows, theShow desktopicon won’t be present by default in the Taskbar, startingKB5034765. It will be replaced by Copilot. This is seen as Microsoft’s efforts to push the adoption of the native chatbot.

Microsoft, in itsofficial blog, states that this is aControlled Feature Rollout (CFR), meaning devices will receive the new feature set at different times.

Remember, theShow desktopoption has not been removed altogether. It’s still a part of Windows 11, just not enabled by default!

Toget back theShow desktopicon, pressWindows+Ito openSettings> go toPersonalizationfrom the navigation pane > clickTaskbaron the right > expand theTaskbar behavioursentry > tick the checkbox forSelect the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop.
