A new lineup of changes and upgrades is coming to the popular Nvidia RTX 4060, 4060 Ti, and 4070, however, the tech giant won’t really update them, even though it’s labeling them as such and will most likely charge potential users for it.

Spotted by a tech enthusiast@Zed__Wang, who goes by the name of MEGAsizeGPU on X (formerly known as Twitter), a series of changes and updates will indeed hit the popular GPUs, but practically these updates won’t do anything, as you can see in the image below:

As you can see the new 4060 GPU will be released with the AD106-255 chip, which is currently used for the 4060Ti GPU, while the new 4060Ti GPU will use the current 4070’s AD104-251.

The new chips will most likely require more power when used, and some of them will even require a new cooler, as is the case with the new 4060Ti AD104. It’s also worth mentioning that according to the spotter, these new GPUs won’t be released with any new specs. They will only have a new chip and that’s all.

So, no 4070 with Bus 256 bit and 16GB VRAM: users won’t get new shaders, Tensor core mounts, or ray tracing.

However, Nvidia will most likely treat them as proper upgrades to the popular GPUs, and users will have to pay an extra price to get them, even though, practically, they won’t see any new upgrades. Currently, they cost around $385 – $525, so the new GPUs will most likely cost the same, but they wouldn’t be worth it, with no benefits around.

You might want to wait. as the tech giant will release a new lineup of the popular RTX 4060, and RTX 4070 GPUs in the following months, ahead of its Blackwell mid-range cards (Nvidia will also releasea Blackwell chipsetin collaboration with Microsoft, and it will be an AI processor).

But for now, it’s not worth it.
