Nvidia didn’t forget about unsupported cards and Windows versions, and they released the 474.89 and 474.82 drivers. So, if you use Kelper architecture drivers or Windows 7, 8, or 8.1, grab the latest update.

However, you shouldn’t get your hopes up. After all, the drivers are mostly security updates to protect your device from critical system vulnerabilities. So, you might still experience problems with them.

What’s new about the new 474.89 and 474.82 drivers?

What’s new about the new 474.89 and 474.82 drivers?

According to official documents about the474.89and474.82drivers, a few features were added. For example, both drivers got support for CUDA 11.4. In addition, the new versions of drivers for unsupported cards have an updated scaling resolution in Nvidia image sharpening. However, the 474.82 drivers received support for the Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 12 GB.

This update is mostly about security and is the first element in the highlights section. In addition, Nvidia mentions that the new drivers are for the unsupported drivers and older Windows versions. After all, they no longer receive help from the Game Ready Drivers.

Also, you should know that the474.82 driversare for the unsupported GeForce 600 Series, GeForce 700 Series, and some GeForce 800M models running on Windows 10 and 11. Also, critical security updates are going to be available for Windows 7 drivers later on, in September 2024.

By the way, the 474.89 doesn’t have a WHQL certification because Microsoft no longer accepts submissions for Windows 7.

In a nutshell, there is nothing great about the 474.89 and 474.82 drivers. However, they have two new features and improved security. Yet, you might still experience unfixed bugs, issues, and errors. In addition, only the graphics cards compatible with Windows 10 and 11 are getting slightly better.
