OneDrive will finally allow users to annotate PDF files with text boxes that can be edited, as long as these files are stored in OneDrive or SharePoint, announces Microsoft in the latest entry tothe 365 Roadmap.
According to the announcement, the text annotation capability will be released in May 2024, and it will be available on OneDrive and SharePoint. To edit the PDF files, users will only need to open those text boxes and select the Edit button.
This feature allows you to annotate and save PDF files with text boxes, when those files are stored in OneDrive and SharePoint. Users can access the annotation feature by opening the PDF in file viewer and selecting “edit”.
We don’t have any images of what these new settings look like, but it was about time Microsoft would implement them. What makes it very interesting, and quite useful is that any PDF file that is uploaded to OneDrive or SharePoint, can be virtually edited to support editable text boxes.
This would not just save a lot of time when dealing with PDF files, but it’s also quite handy: as long as users have access to OneDrive for Web, they can open PDF files on mobile devices and edit them on the spot.
Although many users want to uninstall OneDrive, and they can do so now, they might want to reconsider the decision. OneDrive has been getting a plethora of incredibly useful features, and the text annotation capability might just be it.
Considering just how often we deal with PDF files on a daily basis, and just how much we need to be able to edit them, this capability will allow users to do just that, with any PDF file, anytime, anywhere, as long as they have access to the platform.
Are you excited for it?
