The GPT store of OpenAI is not the platform where developers showcase their chatbots as we were expecting. Also, it doesn’t make it easy for us to pick secure generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs). It is the opposite because it harbors various spam and impersonation Bots.
Also, many chatbots available there break the rules. For example, some hide that they are AI, and others that impersonate celebrities. Their presence could jeopardize ChatGPT, especially in the EU, since theAI Actis almost here. According to its regulations, ChatGPT might become an unacceptable risk AI.
Do I need to pay for the GPT store?
You have to pay $20 monthly to use the OpenAI GPT store because you need ChatGPT Plus to access most features. So, if you are not an enthusiast of AI or don’t have a way to get your money’s worth, it would cost you $240 yearly for a product you don’t need. Additionally, you could use theLM Studioinstead, which allows you to use local large language models (LLMs).
The OpenAI GPT store has been facing many problems lately due to spam bots and GPT models that break the rules. Ultimately, the OpenAI GPT store is a luxury you don’t need unless you use ChatGPT a lot. Even then, there are various free chatbot models that you could try from other sources. So, until the company solves the challenges, the store is just a platform for dangerous tools.
