Outlook makes it easier to organize in-person meetings

Outlook is set to introduce a new feature in the following weeks, that will allow managers and organizers to enable the option to let participants to a meeting choose between attending it virtually, or in-person.

The feature, suggestively calledin-person, will be available initially only on Outlook on the Web, and the New Outlook for Windows desktop app, according to one of the developers behind it.

These new functionalities will be initially released only for Outlook on the Web and the New Outlook for Windows desktop app. We will then assess their acceptance, usage and feedback before proposing any potential extension to supporting it on other clients, including Mac and Mobile.

Outlook has now an improved hybrid meeting experience which gives you more options on how to manage and organize your meetings. This improved experience adds an option to mark an event as an in-person event, with this meeting organizers can request in-person attendance and attendees can RSVP confirming if they can indeed participate in person or if they can only make it virtually.

As you can see in the image below, organizers will be able to allow participants to choose by simply enabling the toggle for the In-person event option.

On the other hand, participants will also have three options to choose from, each with its benefits:

The first two options are explicit, and organizers will know for sure the way participants will attend the meeting. However, the third option is also included for those participants who don’t want to disclose this information.

Ultimately, the organizers will be able to have a general view of all the participants’ ways of attending, effectively making Outlook’s new in-person feature an incredibly useful tool to have when it comes to managerial aspects of a meeting.
