Microsoft will bring a bunch of new features to Outlook this month, according to theMicrosoft 365 Roadmap, and they have to do with saving attachments. Outlook users will now be able to save their email attachments to local folders of choice.
But this is not all. Outlook will also get an integration with Microsoft 365 attachments, specifically, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint attachments. This integration will let users open the attachments directly in the desktop apps, just by double-clicking them.
For example, if someone sends you an email on Outlook with a Word attachment in it, double-clicking the attachment will prompt the document to open on your Microsoft Word app from your desktop device. The same goes for Excel and PowerPoint attachments.
These new features are coming to Outlook this month, on October 2023 for the new Outlook for Windows. So it’s safe to say that for now, only the desktop version of Outlook will get them.
Outlook: Save to a local folder, Follow a meeting, and many more features
As you might know already,the classic Outlook will reach end-of-life in 2025, so Microsoft is focusing on improving the experience of using the new Outlook. This means more new features, dozens of improvements, and changes to the platform.
For example, besides the save to a local folder feature coming to Outlook this month, Microsoft is also addinga follow-a-meeting feature, which will allow users to get all the updates and notifications for a meeting they won’t be able to attend.
The feature is coming to the platform this month, and it is a game changer, as it will allow for greater mobility when using Outlook.
Plus,a new offline supportfeature for mail action will let Outlook users work on the app even when they’re not connected to the Internet. This way the flow of productivity won’t be disturbed at all, and every change will automatically be uploaded to the cloud, once the user connects the device to the Internet.
All of these features are coming to Outlook in October.
