Pentiment, a former Xbox and Windows exclusive video game developed by Obsidian, one of the most popular Xbox Gaming Studios among Xbox users, is reportedly running better on PlayStation consoles, than on Xbox.

The game was released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch on February 22, as part ofthe Xbox’s plansto make its exclusive games available on other platforms, andsome usersfound out that the game is performing way better on PlayStation than Xbox, with the PlayStation version running at 120 FPS, and the Xbox version only managing a ‘modest’ 60 FPS.

However, Josh Sawyer, the director of the game, confirmed on X(formerly known as Twitter) that this is a bug, and Xbox users will receive an update for the game that will make it run properly on the console.

120fps will be enabled for XBOX in the next patch. It being disabled is just a bug.

We don’t have any details about the release of the patch that will fix this annoying bug, but Pentiment players on Xbox shouldn’t worry: Obsidian knows about it, and the studio is dealing with the problem.

Some users rightfully wondered if the FPS issue could be that much of an issue, considering the game is mainly a graphic novel, and players wouldn’t need to worry about FPS in the first place, since it doesn’t really impact the game experience.

However, considering the issue is a bug, to begin with, it could be dealt with by releasing a patch. Other users were disappointed by the fact that the 60 FPS were there all along, and the 120 FPS patch is only released now that Pentiment is ported on PlayStation.

You’re telling me that the original supporters of this game doesn’t have a feature for over year and you’re getting it out after you release to their rival console?

If this is true, then it could end up disappointing a lot of Xbox users and lovers of the Obsidian Entertainment games, and there are a lot of them out there.

What do you think? Should Obisidian have released this patch right from the start?
