Neither England nor Pakistan topped their groups. It was New Zealand and India who took those honours but both the Men in Blue and the Black Caps fell to these to sides, respectively, at the semi-final stage.

His captain will be urging him to strike deep into the long-batting England order, while Buttler will throw everything at breaking Pakistan’s openers. The stage is set for a classic.
