The AI-powered Auto Super Resolution feature might finally be coming to Windows soon, as the Windows Insider@XenoPantherspotted certain strings that were added in the Microsoft DirectX Graphics WDI Handler file (dxgwdi.dll.mui).

According to thespotter, the strings read:

Change some settings for %1 to use Auto Super Resolution. Select this message to learn more. We changed some settings so you can use Auto Super Resolution. Restart %1 for the changes to take effect.

Back in November 2023,@XenoPantherwas the first to spot that this exciting feature might be added to Windows 11 in a future update when the Microsoft DirectX Graphics WDI Handler file mentioned the Auto Super Resolution feature in a hidden string.

But now, it all seems more plausible: withCopilothere, and Microsoft announcing that 2024 will be the year of AI forWindows, the AI-powered Auto Super Resolution makes sense, and it won’t be a surprise if the Redmond-based tech giant will add it to Windows 11 in the following months?

What’s the hype about it, you might ask? Well, let us explain.

Why would Auto Super Resolution be a game-changer in Windows?

Why would Auto Super Resolution be a game-changer in Windows?

The existing Super Resolution feature allows for enhancing an image’s quality beyond its original resolution or size.

In other words, if you have an image that looks good on its original resolution but greatly loses its quality once you place it in a higher resolution, you could use this feature to enhance the image in such a way it wouldn’t lose its quality after getting it to your preferred resolution.

The feature makes use of certain technologies to enhance the density of pixels and create new ones through AI, effectively making the image sharper and better, overall.

The Auto Super Resolution feature in Windows would allow users to automatically fix such images, natively, without having to resort to third-party apps to do so.

Not only that, but it can also be a great way to increase Windows 11 popularity, as it offers features that would cater to a lot of creating professionals, and Microsoft has been releasing several updates in this regard, including thelayer backgroundand theCocreatorfeatures to Microsoft Paint.

So, without a doubt, Auto Super Resolution will most likely be released to Windows 11 in the following months.
