WhatsApp is testing a new app lock in Beta version2.24.6.20on Android, which will allow users to employ a wider array of authentication methods to unlock the app, including face detection, fingerprint, and passcode. This will enhance the whole WhatsApp experience.

The feature description reads,When enabled, you’ll need to use fingerprint, face or other unique identifiers to open WhatsApp. You can still answer calls if WhatsApp is locked.
Based on reports, the feature is currently not available to everyone who updates the app. Surprisingly, a few users have claimed that the improved app lock was already available in WhatsApp beta version2.24.6.19on Android, though we couldn’t independently confirm the claim.
As for the WhatsApp beta version2.24.6.20on Android, it’s reportedly highly unstable and keeps crashing on launch. Several users shared this onXand other forums.
At the moment, experts recommend against installing this bugged WhatsApp beta version2.24.6.20and waiting for the subsequent release, which hopefully features a patch.
