Microsoft is constantly pushing updates for Windows 11 and the latestWindows 11 KB5034848 update is here.
However, today’s update is for the Beta Channel, and it addresses various crashes that users have been experiencing.
KB5034857 fixes various problems, but it comes with a few new issues
According to theMicrosoft blog, the company has released Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3276 (KB5034857) to the Beta Channel, so let’s see what’s new.
Bugfixes for Task Manager and Nearby Sharing
Probably the biggest change in this patch is a fix for Task Manager crashes that have been affecting many. This update also fixes issues with Nearby Sharing not showing certain devices.
To get these two fixes, you need to opt in to get updates as soon as they are available. Another fix is available for all users and it addresses syncing issues with the search highlights icon in the Taskbar.
Copilot now opens on hover in the Taskbar
It’s not all bug fixes in this update, and there are some improvements related to Copilot. With this update, when you hover over the Copilot icon on the Taskbar, you’ll see a Copilot pane for a couple of seconds.
This feature is slowly rolling out, and you should see it available in a couple of weeks.
New issues for Microsoft Defender Application Guard and explorer.exe
Sadly, no Beta Chanel update is without its share of problems, and in this version, Microsoft Defender Application Guard (MDAG) for Microsoft Edge has some connectivity issues.
However, a workaround is available and it requires you to uninstall the MDAG feature since it’s already deprecated.
Microsoft is also aware of explorer.exe crashes and it’s working on them, so we expect this nasty bug to be addressed soon.
Overall, this is a great update, especially if you’re dealing with Task Manager crashes or issues with Nearby Sharing. However, until Microsoft fixes explorer.exe crashes, maybe you should stay away from this update.
Speaking of updates, many had issues installing KB5034848, but there’s a way toinstall KB5034848 by forceif necessary.
