Backing up your files is important, and Microsoft has special software that can help you back up your settings and files to the cloud.

While the Backup app is useful, it doesn’t work on every PC that has it installed, so Microsoft decided to fix that with the latest update.

Windows Backup won’t appear on incompatible devices anymore

When first introduced, Windows Backup was supposed to appear only on personal computers and allow users to back up their files.

According to Microsoft, this feature isn’t available to Azure Active Directory and Active Directory users, however, many reported that it still appears to them. When attempting to run the app, users received a message stating that this feature isn’t supported by their organization.

According to Windows Latest, Microsoft acknowledged and fixed this issue in theWindows 11 KB5034848 update.

This feature will no longer appear for Active Directory users or for users who have their Microsoft account blocked by Group Policy.

The app is now hidden, and you won’t be able to find it, however, it will stay installed and running in the background. While this seems like an odd decision, Microsoft defends it by stating that other features rely on Windows Backup to work properly.

We never used this feature, and we’re not too keen on it, so we hope that Microsoft will give us the option to remove it, just like it gave users the option toremove OneDrive from their PCs.
