Microsoft’s push forArtificial Intelligenceis evident, and Windows is getting several new AI-powered features. In the latest developments, reports suggest that Windows could soon bring AI-based webcam filters that will allow turning your video call feed into cartoons, drawings, and watercolour paintings.
Firstreported onX(formerly Twitter) byXenoPanther, several new files have emerged in Windows 11,Version 26079, that hint at these changes.

As pointed out byZac Bowden on X, these are a part of theimproved AI-poweredStudio Effects. It’s a collection of features aimed at personalizing and improving the video feed. These use NPU (Neural Processing Unit), a piece of hardware designed for AI and machine learning applications.
Currently,Studio Effectsoffers the option to blur the background, improve eye contact by making the necessary adjustments so that your eyes appear directed at the camera instead of the screen, automatically zooming and capturing only the relevant part of the feed, and filtering background noise.
It’s not yet guaranteed that webcam-based AI filters will make it to Windows 11, but as Microsoft is, every day, rolling out more and more AI-based features, we could get an enhancedStudio EffectsinWindows 11 24H2, set to be released later this year.
We will have to wait and watch if Microsoft makes an official announcement regarding it!
