Windows Phone Link is an application that allows Windows 10 and 11 users to link their Android and iOS mobile devices to their PCs. The app has several useful capabilities like displaying notifications and text messages right on your PC. Users can even make phone calls via the Phone Link app.

One thing the app currently lacks however is the ability to view a linked devices camera through the app. That may be about to change though asMicrosoft is reportedly testing such a feature. According to these reports, a forthcoming update (v1.23102.190) contains code which indicates that video streaming on the app through a linked device will be implemented.

If this does come to fruition, it means that users could view their phone’s camera on PC, and could be used as a webcam. The code even lists support for camera effects such as soft focus, HDR, face retouch and auto framing.

There is no word at this point on what apps might be supported, or on whether this feature will ultimately become available for that matter. But the ability to use your smartphone as a webcam on Windows would be a great addition to this already nifty application.
