WhenApple opened its store to streaming apps, many of us were optimistic thatXbox Cloud Gamingwould soon come to iOS. But Microsoft Gaming CEOPhil Spencerhas confirmed that it won’t be the case!

In an interview withThe Verge,Spencersaid that,

As perSpencer, things didn’t work out between Xbox and Apple becausethe proposal that Apple put forward doesn’t go far enough to open up.

He also makes a reference toSarah Bond’scomments onX(formerly Twitter)that Apple’s new policy isn’t in the right direction.

We believe constructive conversations drive change and progress towards open platforms and greater competition. Apple’s new policy is a step in the wrong direction. We hope they listen to feedback on their proposed plan and work towards a more inclusive future for all.https://t.co/mDRI5KPJf6

It appears that Apple’s response to theDigital Markets Actin theEuropean Unionwasn’t profitable for Xbox.

Apple has brought in a€0.5Core Technology Feefee per user for developers who go with the alternative app marketplace amongst other similar clauses that make it unprofitable for companies to operate.

Spotify CEODaniel Ekcalls Apple’s DMA announcement vague and misleading. The sentiments are reflected across the tech community.

Spencergoes on to say that,

He also cites Windows as an example where there are different alternatives for downloading games, be it the Microsoft Store, Steam, or the Epic Games Store, amongst others, and calls for similar changes to be implemented on mobile devices, the largest platform for gamers.

SincePhil Spencerhasn’t outright denied any future plans to bringXbox Cloud Gamingto iOS, we see it happening someday, though not very soon!
